A native New Yorker, Maria Barca landed her first hairstyling job at Antonio Soddu's The Spot. She then styled editorial and commercial shoots and was a signature stylist at first-class salons including Oscar Blandi and Jacques Dessange. She's styled A-list celebrities like Kelly Ripa, Keri Russell and Kyra Sedgwick as well as the Broadway community.
Practicing both traditional and innovative techniques, Maria's signature "dry cut" perfects hair's contour and shape bringing it to life. Maria has her family's knack for hair cutting, but brings her own creative edge and energy to the craft. After 7 years in the business, Maria realized that working with her clients was what satisfied her the most. In 2004, at the young age of 23, she opened Self Salon to bring her expertise to her very own Williamsburg neighborhood.

Danielle Desarle is a Paris-trained colorist who began her career at Frédéric Fekkai. In Paris, Danielle received intensive training which prepared her for the Manhattan floors on which she would work for the next 12 years. She's perfected the art of Balayage hair painting, a coloring technique developed by the French to create natural-looking highlights. Balayage requires no heat or foils, leaving the hair in superb condition.
A native New Yorker, Danielle has always been interested in drawing and painting and loves working with new and loyal clientele. She is passionate about transforming her clients and making them feel sexy and confident. Danielle's artful approach is customized to meet your color needs.
